HOW IT WORKSLuteinizing hormone (LH) is a hormone that periodically changes with the menstrual cycle of a woman.David One Step semi-quantitative ovulation test works by detecting the increase (surge) in a hormone called luteinising hormone (LH) in your urine. The LH surge occurs approximately 24-36 hours prior to the release of an egg from your ovaries - a process known as ovulation. You are at your most fertile on the day your LH surge is detected and the day after. Your 2 most fertile days begin from the time that David One Step semi-quantitative ovulation test detects your LH surge. Make love at any time during the following 48 hours to maximise your chance of becoming pregnant.
PRINCIPLEThe test is a lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay. The test utilizes a combination of antibodies including a monoclonal LH antibody to selectively detect elevated levels of LH. The test strip include:(1) a conjugate pad containing anti-βLH antibody coupled to colloidal gold, and(2) nitrocellulose membrane containing a test line (T line) and a control line (C line).When the absorbent end is immersed into a sample, the sample is absorbed into the device by capillary action and mixes with the antibody-dye conjugate.The complex migrates along the membrane to the mouse anti-α-LH antibody test region (T), and remains captured in the T line.
